Julia Alberth, MPH

Health Equity and Resilient Communities Coordinator

Julia Alberth, MPH, is a public health professional and environmental justice advocate who joined Healthy Climate Wisconsin as the Health Equity and Resilient Communities Coordinator. Julia brings deep community roots and a strong network of partnerships across Southeast Wisconsin—spanning nonprofits, government, community health, hospitals, academic settings, and research. She is deeply committed to advancing health through climate action, with a focus on supporting frontline communities most impacted by environmental injustice.

She holds a Master of Public Health from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin–Parkside. Julia is also a graduate of the New to Public Health Residency Program, a year-long professional development program for early career public health professionals.

Julia has spent her career working at the intersection of public health, community engagement, and health equity. Prior to joining Healthy Climate Wisconsin, she served as the Community Engagement Manager at UW–Milwaukee’s Joseph J. Zilber College of Public Health, where she coordinated Field Experiences for over 100 undergraduate and graduate students and built lasting partnerships with local organizations and public health leaders. She also taught two semesters of the undergraduate Field Experience course, incorporating inclusive teaching practices to support and engage diverse learners.

As a longtime resident of communities directly impacted by the expansion of fossil fuel infrastructure, Julia brings personal experience and professional dedication to this work. She began volunteering with Healthy Climate Wisconsin in early 2025, contributing to advocacy and outreach work focused on opposing the Oak Creek and Paris Township We Energies methane gas plant proposals. This firsthand perspective drives her commitment to advocating for climate justice and community well-being.

Julia serves as the co-chair of the Early Career Professionals Section of the Wisconsin Public Health Association and is an active board member of Lead2Change, where she contributes to the Program and Community Engagement Committee.

In her free time, Julia enjoys spending time with her family and friends, and her two cats. She enjoys taking long walks, practicing yoga, and being creative at the Milwaukee Makerspace. She is also a foodie who experiments with new cookbooks and loves to explore new restaurants, coffee shops, and gluten-free bakeries.
