Harms for rural and urban Wisconsinites include heat, dangerous weather events, infectious diseases spread by mosquitoes and ticks, illnesses from contaminated food and water, and mental health problems. For decades, the leading causes of death and disability in our state have been chronic diseases and injuries, caused by the same systems that are primarily responsible for climate change and air pollution – transportation and land use, energy, and food and agriculture systems. That’s why health experts see climate solutions as health solutions.
