About The Event
We Energies, the most profitable utility in the state, is pursuing projects to expand methane gas infrastructure via new gas plants and storage facilities. This includes a proposal to build a new 1,100 MW gas plant at the Oak Creek campus, locking us in to decades of additional fossil fuel use and negative health consequences while making customers pay for the $1.2 billon project. This comes while we're still paying the $2.3 billion price tag for the company’s Oak Creek “Power the Future” coal plant completed in 2011, the most expensive construction project in the history of the state, while shareholders earned about a 12.5% rate of return profit on that project.
