About The Event
When thinking about climate resiliency strategies in Dane County and Madison, we often think about flooding. However, this approach misses another major component: heat health. At this session, hear about research and action strategies identified by a collaborative city/county/academic team that can combat extreme heat events and how these heat events impact morbidity and mortality in Dane County and Madison. The City of Madison Sustainability Office, Dane County Office of Energy and Climate Change, Public Health Madison/Dane County, WI Department of Health Services, UW-Madison's UniverCity Alliance/WI Initiaitve on Climate Change Impacts/Global Health Institute, and Applied Climatologists invite you to take part in an interactive discussion about how to improve our climate change strategies to better account for extreme heat risks. We will discuss Madison/Dane County and Wisconsin specific data that document the impacts to human health and discuss "cool city" solutions.
