Christian Trunley

Volunteer and Development Coordinator

Christian Trunley is a nonprofit communications and events professional with a passion for connecting health professionals and creating a powerful network for positive change. Christian holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Minnesota–Twin Cities, with a minor in Food Systems, and a Master of Sustainable Peacebuilding from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee College of Nursing. This unique mix of educational experiences has equipped him with advanced skills in systems thinking, community engagement, and complex project planning.

Christian began his mission-based work in the food justice space, working with an organization that grew, cooked, and delivered nutritionally tailored meals to people living with life-threatening illnesses across Minneapolis and St. Paul. This formative role taught him valuable lessons and became the foundation for a career in a health-focused environment.

Over the next eight years, Christian witnessed the dedication of health professionals and the positive impact their voices can create. Most recently, he worked for a medical society serving old-age psychiatrists, where he supported the growth of its membership, annual conference, and various research and education initiatives. Christian is excited to join the HCW team to expand volunteer and member opportunities and develop high-quality, engaging events for the health professional community.

As an almost lifelong Wisconsinite (despite a short stint in Minneapolis for school!), Christian is deeply passionate about protecting Wisconsin's natural systems and engaging all Wisconsin residents and Native peoples in this mission. In his free time, Christian is an extrovert who enjoys spending time with family and friends cooking, laughing, and making plans for the next get-together. His personal hobbies include biking, camping, reading and listening to books, and finding even more titles to add to his reading list—which is half the fun!
