About The Event

Please expand the description below for more details about what is included in your registration.

Meet, strategize, and grow with public and healthcare professionals who care. Join Healthy Climate Wisconsin for a mix of skill-building, interactive strategy sessions, and networking opportunities to transform ideas into collective action. Our primary goal for this weekend is to work together in developing Healthy Climate Wisconsin's strategy for pursuing climate health and justice in Wisconsin in the coming years. Workshops will be led by experienced trainers who will lead us through evidence-based practices and techniques that have spurred movements and policy change for human rights and health.

Included in your registration:

  • A night stay at the Blue Harbor Resort on May 4, including access to amenities.
  • Breakfast, lunch, and dinner on May 4 (vegetarian & vegan).
  • Breakfast and lunch on May 5 (vegetarian & vegan).
  • Small group sessions with nationally recognized climate and health organizing trainers, including materials.
  • Relationship-building activities, examples may include a bonfire on the beach of Lake Michigan, yard games, a group walk on the beach trail, board games, or art. Offerings are subject to change based on weather.

A 50% discounted night stay on Friday, May 3 is available for those who do not want to travel early on Saturday morning. Please reach out to abby@healthyclimatewi.org if interested. Carpool options will also be provided after registration and will continue to be updated. If travel or costs are a barrier, we're here to help!

Please note that prices may increase after April 12, 2024. Registration will close on April 20, 2024, or when all registration spots are filled, whichever comes first.

What to expect:

This is not our annual conference with lectures and panels. Attendees should expect to be active participants in learning and strategizing alongside trainers and Healthy Climate Wisconsin leaders through stories, worksheets, videos, and more.

Our goal is a shared strategy for Healthy Climate Wisconsin that health workers across our state are reflected in and part of. Skills and strategy sessions that begin on Saturday will be expanded on the following day, so we ask for attendees to commit to both days.  Sessions are designed to increase connection (i.e., you'll likely make a new friend!), foster leadership practices, and will help stakeholders analyze their resources and mobilize them under united action to realize the change we want to see.

Trainers from the Leading change network will be using practices rooted in models designed by Dr. Marshall Ganz, who worked closely with Ceasar Chavez as one of the staff members of United Farm Workers for sixteen years. Ganz went on to be a trainer and organizer for political campaigns, unions, and nonprofit groups and is a Senior Lecturer at Harvard University.  He is credited for creating the successful grassroots organizing model and training for Barack Obama’s winning 2008 presidential campaign.
